Have you ever wanted a little taste of heaven? A place where you are accepted for who you are? Where laughter bursts out of the mouths of kids and counselors? A place where beautiful lifelong friendships begin? Although a place like this may seem absolutely impossible, the town of Penfield, Georgia has the perfect recipe of what heaven will be like forever, always, and eternally.

From the hipsters with their TOMS tans to the jocks with their calf high Nike socks, The Swamp is a melting pot of every “clique” that's out there. You may think that these groups, as they do in high school, stay with the people that are “just like them”, but not here. At camp, everyone fellowships and enjoys each others' company. The children tell their silly stories to the teenagers, the jocks and their socks hula-hoop with the little girls who know the all the words to every Demi Lovato song. All the while, everyone grows into a family. They experience first hand that all men really are created equally like Jefferson said in the Declaration. For seven days, out in the wooded lands of Penfield, camp teaches you values that are not only biblical, but practical. Everyone should treat others the way they would like to be treated campers, counselors, and workers treat each other at The Swamp.

Who doesn't want to feel accepted for who they truly are? Camp is a place where you wear moo-moo's on Mondays, Tie-dye on Tuesdays, and wolf shirts on Wednesdays. Where knowing and screaming all the words to every boy band, musical, and Miley Cyrus song is appreciated and not looked down upon. It's where you are embraced by a hug or even a friendship bracelet made by someone you met at the Canteen that day. Who wouldn't want that? The Swamp inspires people from other countries save up all year just for seven days of the purest love. The kind we don't see enough in this world. The love for your neighbor, your fellow human being. All we see today are candidates bashing each other to get to the top, war, and contempt for both the poor and the rich. The Swamp is a place where everyone, no matter their race, background, or SES live in harmony. These are not the things that we should be exposed to. Everyone one of us needs to be shown love and give love.
Not only are there people who love you, but there are many activities that one can participate in at The Swamp. From choreographed lip syncs to Zorbing down an 18 foot ramp with a friend, you have little to no chance of being bored. There are three free times that last up to two hours everyday, in which you can make bracelets, play sports such as basketball, soccer, and ultimate Frisbee, or go to the canteen and get all the snacks your heart desires. Last, but certainly not least, everyday after dinner there's an array of balls flying through the air in front of the dining hall. The counselors versus campers dodge ball games are a camp favorite every year. The fun never ceases at camp.

To sum up, The Swamp is the City Upon a Hill among the other camps. People love one another deeply, enjoy a week away from their parents, and learn morals that will stick with them for the rest of their lives. Each one of the people there take their piece of heaven away with them. Leaving crumbs like Hansel and Gretel, so they'll know where their home is. This little place in northern Georgia, smack dab in the middle of nowhere understands how humans should live. It's time you should get it too. I leave you with this, what are the benefits of staying home and missing out on one of he greatest things this world has to offer?
